Vivistim
We are happy to announce that we are partnering with Vivistim to provide a new rehabilitation approach to improve upper extremity function. The Vivistim System is an FDA-approved device that works with the brain and body to make stroke rehabilitation therapy more effective. This implantable vagus nerve stimulator is designed to work with your brains own neuroplasticity to improve hand and arm function after an ischemic stroke.
How does it work?
Vivistim is an implantable vagus nerve stimulator. Representatives at Vivistim will work with you to receive prior authorization for the device and short outpatient surgery. Once implanted, you will work with a physical therapist who will activate the device to be used during 6 weeks of therapy sessions. Your therapist will help you practice functional tasks that are important to you and teach you how to use the device at home. You will be able to continue to use the stimulator past your therapy sessions at home to continue practicing and improving your ability to do the tasks you love.
